Oklahoma City Thunder rookie guard Ajay Mitchell is set to miss the majority of the remainder of the regular season after undergoing a procedure for a turf toe sprain.

The injury will keep him sidelined for a period of at least 10 to 12 weeks, significantly impacting his availability for the remainder of the season.

Although Mitchell was initially signed to a two-way contract, he quickly earned a place as a consistent contributor in the Thunder’s rotation.

Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, the rookie guard had been a valuable asset to the team, averaging 6.4 points per game with impressive shooting splits of 51% from the field, 43% from beyond the arc, and 85% from the free-throw line.

His scoring efficiency and ability to stretch the floor had made him a reliable presence off the bench for Oklahoma City.

Mitchell had played in 34 games for the Thunder before being sidelined by the injury, showcasing his potential and ability to adapt to the demands of NBA play.

His absence will undoubtedly be felt, as the team loses a young player with the ability to contribute both offensively and defensively.
