Grant Hill, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and member of the iconic 1996 Dream Team, has high praise for LeBron James as the NBA superstar continues to excel in his 22nd season. As the managing director for the 2024 USA Basketball roster, Hill had the opportunity to observe James closely.

Hill recently shared his admiration for James, highlighting his impressive professionalism and commitment to maintaining his body despite being 40 years old. “I saw a lot of him this past summer up close and personal,” Hill told NBA insider Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson. “He takes care of his body and he works like he’s trying to make the team! His professionalism, work ethic, and of course, his intellect.”

James, despite being in the latter stages of his career, is still putting up remarkable numbers. The 40-year-old is averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, while the Los Angeles Lakers sit sixth in the Western Conference with a 20-16 record. Hill, who was known for his own strong performances during his playing days, sees many similarities between his game and LeBron’s.

Hill, like James, was known for his ability to finish above the rim in transition, and both players were excellent playmakers. However, Hill emphasizes that James’ ability to adjust his game over time is what has set him apart. “He’s just a smart guy, and he knows the game,” Hill said.

The NBA legend pointed out that while James may not play the same way he did in his younger years, his basketball IQ and ability to adapt have kept him at the top of his game. “He may not do it like he once did it, but he just knows how to get it done. He knows how to make the right reads, he picks and chooses his spots. It’s impressive what he’s done throughout his career with his longevity, but maybe it’s more impressive to what he’s doing now.”
