Paolo Banchero is expected to make his highly anticipated return to the Orlando Magic’s lineup this week after recovering from a torn oblique.
The team has indicated that Banchero could suit up as soon as Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves or Friday’s matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.
On Wednesday, the player participated fully in practice, a strong sign that he is nearing game readiness and will soon rejoin his teammates on the court.
Banchero has been sidelined since October 30 due to the injury, which interrupted what had been a dominant start to his second NBA season.
In the five games he played before being injured, the forward averaged an impressive 29.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists over 36.4 minutes per game.
His contributions showcased his growth as a player and cemented his importance as a central piece of the Magic’s success this season.
Orlando has managed to stay competitive in his absence, posting a 22-16 record that currently places them fourth in the Eastern Conference.
The team has exceeded expectations, relying on depth, strong defense, and contributions from players like Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. to stay afloat.
However, Banchero’s return is expected to give the Magic a significant boost, particularly on the offensive end, where his scoring and playmaking abilities are invaluable.
