Jimmy Butler rejoined the Miami Heat at practice on Tuesday, addressing swirling rumors about his future with the team but stopping short of denying a recent report by ESPN that he would prefer a trade.

Despite the speculation, Butler expressed optimism about playing in Wednesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

“Does it matter?” Butler responded when asked if he prefers a trade. “Does it matter? I honestly do not care about getting traded, where I’m supposed to go, who’s saying what. All of that is out of my control anyway.”

The ESPN report suggested Butler’s preferred trade destinations include the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets.

Yet, Heat President Pat Riley has publicly stated the team does not intend to trade the star forward.

When asked whether he would be content staying in Miami if no trade materializes, Butler admitted uncertainty.

“I don’t know,” he said. “We will see. Only time will tell. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen come tomorrow. I appreciate the statement. But this is a business after all. I won’t have any hard feelings either way.”

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the possibility of Butler remaining with the Heat or moving to another team continues to dominate headlines.
