Jimmy Butler’s return to Miami Heat practice on Tuesday was overshadowed by ongoing trade rumors and his candid responses to reporters.

Butler neither confirmed nor denied ESPN’s report that he desires a trade, instead choosing to focus on his current circumstances.

“That’s a good question. Who knows? I don’t,” the player said when asked if he wants to stay with the Heat. “Right now, I’m here and I’m going to make the most of it. I am going to compete and I’m going to win.

“It’s a lot of talk, a lot of noise, which I’m cool with. It doesn’t bother me at all. I love that. I thrive with it. It keeps you all wondering, the world wondering. It’s good to be talked about. Even better to be wanted.”

The Heat forward added that he feels content with his current situation.

“I don’t know,” Butler replied when asked if a trade before the deadline is in both parties’ best interests. “That’s up to Pat. He will do what’s best for the organization as they should.

“And as long as I’m happy. And right now, I’m happy. I’m in a good space. I’ve got my kids here. I’m healthy. I’m smiling. I promise you I’m happy.”

Pat Riley, the Heat’s President, has made it clear that the team has no plans to trade Butler, further fueling speculation about the star’s future.

While Butler’s comments leave his long-term intentions ambiguous, his focus remains on the present. With the Heat slated to face the Pelicans, the basketball world will watch closely for what’s next in the ongoing saga.
