The Phoenix Suns are set to save a significant amount due to the three-game suspension of Jusuf Nurkic. The Bosnian center was penalized for his involvement in an altercation with Dallas Mavericks players Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington during Friday’s loss.

Nurkic’s suspension comes with a financial impact, with ESPN NBA Front Office insider Bobby Marks breaking down the numbers. According to Marks, Nurkic’s suspension will save Phoenix approximately $2.3 million in luxury tax payments.

Marks clarified that the suspension amounts for all players involved were as follows: Naji Marshall of the Mavericks received a four-game suspension with a total penalty of $236,452, while P.J. Washington was suspended for one game, costing him $89,080. For Nurkic, his three-game suspension totals $375,000, which directly impacts the Suns’ financial situation.

Nurkic, who has been a key contributor to Phoenix’s frontcourt, will miss three games due to the altercation. His absence could affect the team’s rotation, but the financial relief provides the Suns with more flexibility moving forward.

The Suns’ first game without Nurkic ended in a narrow loss to the Golden State Warriors.
