Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently addressed the ongoing trade rumors surrounding the team. While in regular contact with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, Redick emphasized that his primary focus is on maximizing the performance of the current roster.

“Rob and I talk all the time, but my focus is on coaching this group and trying to maximize this group,” Redick said following the Lakers’ practice on Friday. “Frankly, I have belief that when this group is healthy, we can compete. If there’s a move to be made, there’s a move to be made. But I’m focused on this group,” Redick added, as reported by Corey Hansford of Lakers Nation.

Despite the rumors linking the Lakers to potential trades, Redick believes in the potential of the team as it stands. Currently, Los Angeles holds the fifth spot in the Western Conference with an 18-13 record, following their Saturday night win over the Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers have been involved in several trade rumors, with names like Jonas Valanciunas being mentioned as potential additions to the roster. However, Redick is clear that he is not allowing external noise to distract him from his coaching duties.

Los Angeles’ current roster includes key players such as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves, who have all contributed significantly to the team’s success this season.
