LeBron James, following a thrilling Christmas Day matchup, described himself and Stephen Curry as the embodiment of what makes the NBA special today. Speaking in the locker room after the game, James said, “LeBron and Steph,” when asked what remains great about the league.

Earlier on the court, James reflected on the significance of his rivalry with Curry, emphasizing the importance of appreciating the present.

“It’s OK to think about retirement. It’s going to make you appreciate the present,” he said, via Ballislife.com. “For us, we don’t know how many times we’re going to be able to have this matchup and step on the floor. But when we do, we try to give the game what they deserve.”

James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a dramatic 115-113 victory over the Golden State Warriors in a game that showcased the rivalry’s enduring brilliance. The four-time NBA champion posted 31 points and 10 assists, marking another historic performance in his NBA-record 19th Christmas Day appearance.

The game featured a thrilling finish, with Austin Reaves scoring the game-winning layup with one second remaining. Reaves, who recorded his first career triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, played a key role in securing the Lakers’ win.

Curry delivered a standout performance for Golden State, scoring 38 points and hitting eight three-pointers. He tied the game with a deep 31-foot three-pointer with seven seconds left but ultimately couldn’t prevent the Warriors from falling to their 11th loss in 14 games.

The Lakers overcame adversity early in the contest after Anthony Davis exited in the first quarter with a sprained left ankle. Davis, who has faced multiple injuries this season, logged just seven minutes before leaving the game.

Golden State’s supporting cast stepped up, with Andrew Wiggins contributing 21 points and 12 rebounds. Draymond Green added 10 rebounds and six assists but received his eighth technical foul of the season in the second quarter, inching closer to a one-game suspension.

Despite Golden State’s efforts, Los Angeles capitalized on its depth. Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht combined for 18 points off the bench, while Jaxson Hayes, still recovering from an ankle injury, remained inactive.

The game highlighted the Lakers’ ability to adapt in high-stakes moments and the Warriors’ struggles to close games. Jonathan Kuminga and Trayce Jackson-Davis chipped in for Golden State, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their 15-14 record from slipping further.

James continues to make history, securing his 11th Christmas Day win and surpassing Dwyane Wade’s record for most victories on the holiday. Meanwhile, Curry added another milestone to his illustrious career, starting in his 11th Christmas Day game, a feat matched by only six other players.
