LeBron James delivered a masterful performance to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (17-13) to a 115-113 win over the Golden State Warriors (15-14) in a Christmas Day thriller. James scored 31 points and dished out 10 assists, showcasing his dominance in his NBA-record 19th Christmas Day game.

The game came down to the wire, with Austin Reaves scoring the game-winning layup with one second remaining. This came after Stephen Curry drilled a deep 31-foot three-pointer with seven seconds left to tie the game.

Reaves, who recorded his first career triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, was instrumental in securing the victory for Los Angeles.

Curry had a stellar night with 38 points, including eight three-pointers. The Warriors’ superstar hit multiple clutch shots, including a contested three from the baseline with 12 seconds left. Despite his heroics, Golden State fell short, losing their 11th game in the last 14 contests.

The Lakers had to overcome adversity after Anthony Davis exited the game in the first quarter with a sprained left ankle. Davis, who has struggled with injuries throughout the season, managed only seven minutes on the court before leaving.

Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins contributed 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Draymond Green added 10 rebounds and six assists. However, Green picked up his eighth technical foul of the season late in the second quarter, moving closer to a one-game suspension after 16 technicals.

Los Angeles leaned heavily on its depth with D’Angelo Russell sidelined due to a sprained left thumb. Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht provided valuable contributions off the bench, combining for 18 points. Meanwhile, Jaxson Hayes, still recovering from an ankle injury, participated in 3-on-3 drills before the game but remained inactive.

The Warriors showed resilience throughout the game, with key contributions from Jonathan Kuminga, who scored 14 points, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, who posted 11 points and nine rebounds. However, their inability to close out games has been a recurring issue, leaving them with a sub-.500 record at 15-14.

James continued to make history, earning his 11th Christmas Day victory, surpassing former teammate Dwyane Wade’s record. Curry also etched his name in the history books, becoming the seventh player to start in at least 11 Christmas Day games.

The win marked the Lakers’ 17th victory of the season, solidifying their standing in the Western Conference playoff race. For the Warriors, the loss highlighted ongoing struggles despite Curry’s brilliance, raising questions about their consistency moving forward.
