The Denver Nuggets are considering potential trade options involving Michael Porter Jr. as they aim to reshape their roster around Nikola Jokic. With limited avenues for roster upgrades, the Nuggets have evaluated Porter’s trade value, sources tell The Stein Line.

During the offseason, Denver explored a deal involving Porter for Paul George, and now those internal discussions about trading Porter have gained further traction.

Currently, Zeke Nnaji’s $8.8 million contract is the only other significant salary the Nuggets could use in potential trade scenarios to match player values. This limitation adds complexity to their ability to make impactful changes without involving Porter.

Additionally, sources confirm The Athletic’s report that Zach LaVine has supporters within the Nuggets’ front office. However, there’s an ongoing debate within the organization about the best approach to improve their roster.

Some believe that if the Nuggets decide to move Porter, they might benefit more from acquiring two quality rotation players instead of a single player like LaVine.

Hypothetical trade scenarios mentioned by The Stein Line include sending Porter to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, or to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith.

These types of deals, which could turn Porter into two contributing pieces, are viewed as strategies that might better balance Denver’s roster and improve its overall depth.
