Anthony Davis gave an update on his shoulder injury after helping the Los Angeles Lakers secure a 116-110 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.
Davis had been in dominant form, finishing the game with 40 points and 16 rebounds. However, midway through the third quarter, he suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to briefly exit the game with 5:30 left in the period.
“I had a little stinger,” Davis said after the game. “Went in the back, got some work done. I had four fouls anyway, so it was about time for me to come out.” Despite the setback, Davis returned to action in the fourth quarter and finished the game strong.
The Lakers’ win improved their record to 14-12, while the Grizzlies, who had been on a four-game winning streak, dropped to 18-9.
LeBron James made his return to the lineup after missing two games due to a foot injury and personal reasons, contributing 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists in 34 minutes.
Austin Reaves also played a pivotal role in the win, adding 19 points, including clutch free throws late in the game. The Lakers built an 18-point halftime lead, 64-46, and maintained control throughout the contest, never trailing after the opening tip.
Davis was especially impactful in the first half, registering 22 points and 10 rebounds before his injury. His return in the fourth quarter helped the Lakers hold off a late Grizzlies rally. Davis shot 15-for-22 from the field and played a crucial role in both scoring and defense.
