The Philadelphia 76ers are not expected to bring back their former player, Paul Reed, anytime soon, despite a reported affinity for him.
Reed, who was waived by the Detroit Pistons after a brief stint with the team, is not on the Sixers’ radar for a reunion at this time.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that sources say Philadelphia has a fondness for Reed, known as “Bball Paul” during his four years with the team. However, the current expectation is that a potential reunion is unlikely before the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
Reed, a 24-year-old forward, was claimed by the Pistons earlier this season but only appeared in 12 games. In that stretch, he averaged 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 10.4 minutes of action.
Though his time in Detroit was short, Reed’s reputation in Philadelphia remains positive. The Sixers are familiar with his hustle and defensive versatility, which earned him a dedicated fan base during his tenure in the City of Brotherly Love.
