The Detroit Pistons have signed Javante McCoy to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto.

The 26-year-old shooting guard fills the roster spot left vacant after the team waived Paul Reed earlier this month.

McCoy’s signing marks his second stint with the Pistons this season. The former Boston University standout initially signed with Detroit on September 18 but was waived on October 17 before joining their G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, on October 29.

In 12 G League appearances for the Cruise this season, McCoy has averaged 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 26.1 minutes per game.

A former All-Patriot League player, McCoy spent five years at Boston University, where he developed a reputation as a reliable scorer. He went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft but has since worked to establish himself through stints in the G League.
