Giannis Antetokounmpo recently opened up to Sam Amick of The Athletic about his growing partnership with Damian Lillard, reflecting on how their relationship on the court has significantly improved since the beginning of their time together.

While expectations for the duo were sky-high when Lillard joined the Milwaukee Bucks, Antetokounmpo emphasized the importance of patience and time in developing a strong on-court connection.

“It takes time,” Antetokounmpo stated. “You know, I feel like a lot of people had such high expectations from us on day one to be the best duo to ever play this game. But it takes time. Now it’s our second year playing together.

“We are more comfortable with one another, know one another’s spots better. And as you see, our chemistry has been getting way, way better.”

This growing chemistry has allowed both players to play off each other in increasingly effective ways. Antetokounmpo pointed out how their understanding of each other’s movements and strengths has sharpened, particularly in critical moments during games.

“Down the stretch … we feel very, very comfortable we can both get to our spots and be more effective when we play that two-man game this year.”

Their improving coordination and trust will be crucial for the Bucks as they move forward in the season, making them an even more formidable duo for opponents to contend with.
