Rookie wing Yongxi Cui, on a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets, tore his left ACL during a G League game on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the 2024/25 season. The 21-year-old is expected to fully recover, according to the team.
Known as “Jacky,” Cui is a 6’6″ guard/forward who previously played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association, averaging 15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in 2023/24. Undrafted in June, he appeared in five NBA games for the Nets and five for their G League affiliate, Long Island.
While Cui is sidelined, the Nets may choose to keep him on his two-way deal, as NBA teams sometimes retain injured players for the season. His future will depend on the team’s roster needs and his recovery progress.
