Olympiacos Piraeus has officially signed center Nathan Mensah, bolstering their roster in the wake of Moses Wright’s season-ending health issue. The deal extends through the end of the 2024-25 season, with an option for the 2025-26 campaign.
Mensah, 26, began this season with the Austin Spurs in the G League, where he averaged 5.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks across 12 games. Known for his defensive presence, the center brings shot-blocking and rebounding abilities to the EuroLeague contenders.
The Ghanaian big man also has NBA experience, having played 25 games for the Charlotte Hornets during the 2023-24 season. In his limited role, he averaged 1.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game, showcasing his potential as a reliable defensive option.
Olympiacos currently sits third in the EuroLeague standings with a 9-5 record. Mensah’s signing provides the Reds with additional depth and flexibility in the frontcourt as they aim to strengthen their playoff push.
This marks Mensah’s first stint in Europe, a transition that often challenges players unfamiliar with the physicality and pace of EuroLeague competition.
