Chicago Bulls forward Patrick Williams, who has been sidelined since November 18 due to inflammation in his surgically repaired left foot, is taking important steps toward his return to the court.
Williams fully participated in Tuesday’s non-contact practice and is expected to join the team for Wednesday’s more intense session, which will include contact drills and scrimmages, as reported by K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network.
Despite his progress, Williams expressed the difficulty of being away from the game for an extended period, stating, “It’s been tough. I don’t even know how long it’s been since I played,” according to Johnson.
The forward’s recovery has been closely monitored since his injury, which occurred due to ongoing issues with his left foot, a problem that has lingered since his surgery.
Head coach Billy Donovan had noted last week that there was a chance Williams could make his return to the lineup sometime this week.
The Bulls are hopeful that Williams could be ready for their upcoming game on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets, as he continues to ramp up his activity and regain his conditioning.
The player’s return would be a significant boost to the Bulls’ frontcourt depth, providing the team with a versatile defender and solid scorer.
With his ability to guard multiple positions and contribute on both ends of the floor, his presence has been missed during Chicago’s recent stretch of games.
As the team looks to maintain momentum and improve their performance, having Williams back in the lineup could help stabilize the Bulls’ rotation and give them a much-needed lift.
