Miles McBride’s three-year, $13MM extension, signed roughly a year ago, is proving to be a significant value for the New York Knicks, especially considering his impact and development since inking the deal.
The young guard played a pivotal role in the latter half of last season, averaging 11.0 points per game and shooting 36.8% from three-point range during the playoffs.
This season, McBride has elevated his game further, delivering career-high averages of 11.2 points and 2.8 assists over 17 games while showcasing remarkable efficiency with shooting splits of .462/.435/.909.
Such consistent improvement has prompted speculation about his market value today, with Stefan Bondy of the New York Post estimating that the player would command an annual salary in the $10-12MM range if he were negotiating a new deal now.
Despite this, McBride remains content with his decision to sign the extension when he did, emphasizing his gratitude and satisfaction with his current situation.
“There are a lot of people that are out here struggling, and I’m having fun,” McBride said. “I’m playing well. I’m on a great team. I’m more than happy.”
