Washington Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon praised former Boston Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, calling them the best duo in the NBA.
Brogdon addressed past criticisms of their chemistry, noting the two stars have overcome doubts about their compatibility.
“People have always criticized them over the years — they can’t play together, their games are too similar, they’ve heard it all,” Brogdon said. “I think they’ve really come together and figured it out… they’re the best duo in the NBA right now,” he said, via Noa Dalzell.
Tatum and Brown’s production this season supports Brogdon’s statement. Tatum is averaging 29.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 36.6 minutes per game. Brown contributes 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 36.9 minutes per contest.
The Celtics, currently second in the Eastern Conference with a 13-3 record, owe much of their success to the pair’s leadership. Their ability to excel both offensively and defensively has been pivotal.
In past seasons, critics questioned whether their similar skill sets could coexist. Tatum and Brown have silenced those doubts by winning their first NBA championship last season.
