Joel Embiid expressed frustration after details of a recent Philadelphia 76ers team meeting were leaked. He addressed the reports while also sending a message to the person responsible for sharing the information with the media.
“Whoever leaked that is a real piece of (expletive). But even then, we talked about a lot of things. I don’t want to get into the details, but that whole thing probably took 30 seconds,” Embiid said.
Earlier this week, reports emerged that in a meeting that lasted about an hour and included both players and coaches, Tyrese Maxey confronted Embiid about his habitual lateness to team activities. Maxey argued that Embiid’s tardiness hurt everyone, including coaches and fellow players.
In response, Embiid clarified that he wasn’t as often late as the reports suggested, though he acknowledged his appreciation for his relationship with Maxey and the point guard’s desire to see him improve.
“That’s the relationship we have. Nothing malicious. I like when people are telling me what I’m not doing good, what I need to do better. Even though that part (the tardiness) maybe happened once or twice, when I wasn’t playing,” Embiid reflected on his dynamic with Maxey.
