The Detroit Pistons defeated the Washington Wizards 124-104 on Sunday night, improving to 7-8 for the season. Jaden Ivey and Malik Beasley led the charge, combining for 54 points to hand Washington its eighth consecutive loss.

Ivey delivered a season-high 28 points, while Beasley added 26 points, including six three-pointers. Cade Cunningham notched his fourth triple-double of the season, contributing 21 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds, further cementing his role as Detroit’s primary playmaker.

Detroit set the tone early, holding Washington to 18 first-quarter points and entering halftime with a 65-53 lead. The Pistons extended their advantage with a 12-3 run in the third quarter, highlighted by a Jalen Duren dunk that pushed the margin to 21 points. Duren finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wizards struggled with turnovers, committing 17 compared to Detroit’s nine. The Pistons capitalized with a 27-11 edge in points off turnovers, effectively sealing the game.

Washington’s Alex Sarr, the No. 2 overall draft pick, was held to just four points on 1-of-7 shooting. Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole each scored 22 points for Washington, but the team’s defense faltered throughout the game. Bilal Coulibaly added 15 points but could not spark a comeback.

Detroit’s depth shined as Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, and Wendell Moore Jr. contributed off the bench.

For the Wizards, their rebuilding efforts appear to be lagging behind those of Detroit. Despite shooting well from beyond the arc (44.4%), Washington was unable to overcome a poor start and defensive lapses.
