The Washington Wizards have signed center John Butler Jr. to an Exhibit 10 contract, with expectations that he will primarily play for their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go, following the preseason.

An Exhibit 10 contract allows teams to offer players a training camp deal with an incentive to remain in the organization’s developmental system.

Butler is no stranger to the Go-Go, having played in 49 games last season, including 20 starts. Standing at 7 feet tall, he brings notable size and versatility to the court.

During the 2022-23 season, Butler averaged 6.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, showcasing his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor.

His shooting touch was also a key component of his game, as he connected on 39.5% of his three-point attempts, averaging 3.3 shots from beyond the arc per game – a significant asset for a player of his size.

With the potential to develop further in the G League, Butler will look to refine his skills and possibly earn future opportunities at the NBA level.

His ability to stretch the floor as a 7-footer who can knock down outside shots, paired with his defensive presence, makes him a valuable prospect for the Wizards’ system.
