The Brooklyn Nets have bolstered their roster by signing free agent guard Killian Hayes and forward Tyrese Martin, adding depth and versatility to their backcourt and wing positions.
Hayes, standing 6’4″ and weighing 206 pounds, brings valuable experience from his four seasons with the Detroit Pistons (2020-24), where he showcased his ability as a dynamic playmaker and defender. The 7th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Hayes played in 210 career games, starting in 145 of those contests.
Over that span, he averaged 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.2 steals in 26.1 minutes per game. Known for his court vision and defensive instincts, Hayes has the potential to become a key contributor for the Nets, especially with his ability to orchestrate the offense and provide solid perimeter defense.
On the other hand, Tyrese Martin, standing 6’6″ and weighing 212 pounds, comes off a strong season in the NBA G League, where he honed his skills with the Iowa Wolves, the G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In 33 regular season games, including 28 starts, Martin put up impressive numbers, averaging 17.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while logging 35.1 minutes per contest.
Martin’s ability to contribute across multiple facets of the game – scoring, rebounding, and facilitating – could make him a valuable asset for the Nets, particularly in providing energy and versatility off the bench.
Both players bring different strengths to the table: Hayes with his steady playmaking and defensive abilities, and Martin with his scoring prowess and all-around impact.
Their signings reflect the Nets’ intent to develop a more well-rounded roster as they head into the upcoming season.
