The Brooklyn Nets have officially signed guard Tyson Etienne, according to a tweet by Evan Barnes of Newsday. The deal is expected to be an Exhibit 10 contract.

Recently, the Nets’ G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, secured Etienne’s returning rights from the College Park Skyhawks, the G League team for the Atlanta Hawks. This move allows Brooklyn the flexibility to bring Etienne in on an Exhibit 10 contract.

During his time with the Skyhawks from 2022 to 2024, Etienne appeared in 51 regular season games. He averaged 7.6 points per game, shooting 44.4% from the field, 35.6% from beyond the arc, and 72.2% from the free-throw line.

In addition to his scoring, he also contributed 3.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game. With the Nets still needing to fill several spots on their training camp roster, they are expected to sign more players in the upcoming weeks.

Etienne went undrafted in 2022 after playing for Wichita State. He also has strong basketball connections – he’s the nephew of former NBA player Marcus Camby and a cousin of DeAndre Jordan, a veteran NBA center.

Players who sign Exhibit 10 contracts, like Etienne, can earn bonuses of up to $77,500 if they are waived by the NBA team but then join the team’s G League affiliate and remain with them for at least 60 days.

This type of contract provides a path for players to prove themselves and potentially earn a spot on the main roster while also offering financial incentives if they continue to develop in the G League.
