Indiana Fever/X

Stephen A. Smith firmly believes that the Rookie of the Year race has already been decided, with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark emerging as the clear frontrunner.

While acknowledging the impressive achievements of Angel Reese, particularly her streak of 24 consecutive double-doubles, Smith is convinced that Reese will take second place. According to him, Clark is the undeniable choice for Rookie of the Year.

Smith also highlights that the Fever standout is being considered for the league MVP, a remarkable feat for a rookie. Although he doesn’t expect her to win the MVP award, especially with strong contenders like A’ja Wilson in the mix, Smith emphasizes that Clark’s inclusion in the MVP conversation is significant and noteworthy.

Despite her rookie status, Clark’s performance has been outstanding enough to place her among the league’s best players.

“There is no debate,” Smith said. “I understand Angel Reese has been doing her thing with the double-doubles – like, 24 straight double-doubles and all that. Major props to her, and she deserves it; she’s gonna be number 2. But Caitlin Clark is gonna win Rookie of the Year.

“Caitlin Clark is in the conversation – she ain’t gonna win it because A’ja Wilson is there. But Caitlin Clark is in the conversation for league MVP. I don’t know if you already know that, but she’s in the conversation – league MVP as a rookie.”
