Jaylen Brown’s exclusion from the 2024 Team USA roster has been a notable topic of discussion, particularly after his teammate Derrick White was selected over him.

Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens believes this snub will serve as strong motivation for Brown in the upcoming season.

“I think Jaylen could be on any Olympic team any given year. He could be a featured part of those teams,” Stevens said, via Adam Himmelsbach of Boston Globe.

Following the removal of Kawhi Leonard from the national team, many expected Brown, the NBA Finals MVP, to take his place. However, USA Basketball chose White instead.

Stevens added that USA Basketball director Grant Hill expressed interest in discussing Brown’s potential involvement in the 2028 Olympic pool.

Despite the disappointment, Stevens is confident that Brown will use the situation to fuel his development.

“Whether he gets the call and makes the team or doesn’t get the call, he’s going to use it as motivation to get better,” Stevens stated.
