Carmelo Anthony recently shared why he wasn’t interested in joining LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat.
On the Podcast P with Paul George, Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, Anthony discussed his decision to stay away from the Miami Big Three.
He mentioned that there were talks between him and James before the formation of Miami’s star trio.
“Before the Miami Big Three, there were talks about me and Bron [LeBron James] because out of me, him, and D Wade, we were closest,” Anthony said.
Despite their connection, Anthony revealed they never fully committed to joining forces.
“We never was all locked in until we started going and getting old,” he added.
The former NBA star explained that the idea of teaming up didn’t materialize until later in their careers.
“I think it was because we lost together. We felt the same pain, we felt the same sentiment,” Anthony recalled.
He emphasized that the possibility of joining James in New York or Cleveland was not realistic.
“We just never knew where, you know what I mean? We could mess around with each other but you ain’t going to New York, ain’t going to Cleveland,” Anthony noted.
As friends and competitors, they explored the idea but did not lock in a partnership.
