The Los Angeles Lakers have bolstered their coaching staff under new head coach JJ Redick with the additions of Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks as top assistant coaches.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the appointments, highlighting that McMillan and Brooks bring a wealth of experience, boasting a combined total of 1,189 victories as former head coaches.

Following the dismissal of head coach Darvin Ham and his entire coaching staff, the Lakers were in search of seasoned mentors to support Redick in his coaching debut.

McMillan, known for his defensive acumen and leadership, has previously served as head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, and most recently, the Atlanta Hawks.

Meanwhile, Brooks, renowned for his player development skills and strategic prowess, led the Oklahoma City Thunder to multiple playoff appearances and was also head coach of the Washington Wizards.

Their addition is expected to bring stability and tactical expertise to the Lakers’ bench, complementing Redick’s vision for the team.
