Zalgiris Kaunas standout Keenan Evans faced another setback after suffering a severe injury during Game 3 of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) semi-finals against Lietkabelis, prompting surgery and a lengthy recovery period.

Following a diagnosis of a torn patella ligament and subsequent surgery, Evans took to social media to express gratitude and optimism amidst adversity.

In an Instagram story, Evans conveyed his emotions, acknowledging the challenges ahead while maintaining faith and determination in his recovery journey.

Expressing regret for his absence in the championship pursuit with Zalgiris Kaunas, Evans extended gratitude to the city and fans for their support, vowing to cheer on the team during the finals.

“Words can’t describe how I feel right now, it just truly sucks knowing how much I pushed myself to get back to playing at a high level. But life isn’t fair and it never will be. God makes no mistakes and it’s on me to be patient and trust in him. To the city of Kaunas and Zalgiris fans, I am truly sorry I will not be able to help bring the trophy home this season. Of course I will be cheering for the team in the finals 💚🤍 Lastly, those of you who know me and my character understand that situations like this excite me to be even better and stronger and also to finish a season 😂). Can’t respond to everyone but saying a big THANK YOU (AČIŪ) to all the love and messages I have gotten. God bless you all 🙏 ❤️ Tough times pass & tough people last 🐴,” Evans wrote on Instagram.

This unfortunate injury marks the second major setback for Evans, who previously endured a torn Achilles tendon in January of last year, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

Despite Zalgiris’ reported efforts to retain him with a generous offer, Evans’ future remains uncertain as he navigates the rehabilitation process and evaluates potential opportunities as a free agent.
