Damian Lillard recently admitted that it is tough to watch the playoffs after his team, the Milwaukee Bucks, was eliminated.
This season didn’t end as Lillard anticipated when he was traded to the Bucks in the offseason. Teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the goal was always to win a championship.
However, Antetokounmpo got injured and couldn’t help in the first-round series against the Indiana Pacers.
Lillard was unable to carry the Bucks alone, and the Bucks saw their postseason end in the first round of the playoffs.
“Whenever you get into the playoffs and you get eliminated early, it’s always tough to continue to watch,” Lillard said on TNT, via ClutchPoints.
He elaborated, “It’s that first round of the playoffs, everybody’s excited. As it continues to grow, there’s more and more attention on fewer and fewer teams.”
Lillard noted the current state of the playoffs, saying, “Looking at it now, it’s four teams left and you’re looking at it like, ‘Man, this ain’t even the teams that everybody was talking about having a chance.'”
He expressed his thoughts on the unexpected playoff outcomes, adding, “Now, they actually got a shot at winning a ring. Somebody is going to win their first one.”
Reflecting on the difficulty of watching from the sidelines, Lillard said, “So, that’s always hard to be on the outside looking in.”
