Paul Pierce has picked the Mavericks to beat the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. The Boston Celtics legend shared his prediction on Undisputed.

Pierce’s confidence in Dallas stems from their strong roster. He believes the combination of Doncic and Irving gives them an edge over Minnesota.

The 2008 NBA champion highlighted Doncic’s scoring ability and superstar status. He also noted Irving’s performance in the third quarter of Game 6 of the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“The Mavs have the necessary grit that can get you to the championship,” Pierce stated on Undisputed. He emphasized the impact of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

“When you have a scorer and a superstar like Luka [Doncic], you got the Robin in Kyrie [Irving] and Kyrie showed up in the third quarter [of Game 6] and played like Kyrie.”

“My only problem with Kyrie is they need Kyrie to do this from the first quarter on the way he played in the third,” Pierce added. He believes consistent play from Irving is crucial for the Mavericks: “If they’re going to get to the Finals, Kyrie got to show up.”

Pierce praised the overall composition of the Mavericks’ team. He mentioned their superstars, closers, grit, and shooting.

Jason Kidd, according to Pierce, has become one of the best coaches in basketball. Kidd’s experience is seen as a significant asset for Dallas.

“I got Dallas beating Minnesota because I’m just looking at the pieces they got: superstar, they got two closers, they got grit, they got shooting, and Jason Kidd has quietly become one of the best coaches in basketball. He’s got experience now. I really like Dallas,” Pierce said.

The series begins this Wednesday at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves, coming off a Game 7 win against the Denver Nuggets, will face a tough challenge.

The Mavericks aim to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves seek their first Finals appearance in franchise history.
