Barkley: I would love to see LeBron retire sooner rather than later

While LeBron James refrained from making definitive comments about his future, it is expected that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar will continue playing and will enter his 22nd year in the NBA next season.

The four-time NBA champion, who will turn 40 years old in December, is still a dominant force, having averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in 35.3 minutes per game this past season.

But legendary Charles Barkley would like James to end his career sooner instead of pushing it to where it becomes tough to watch. He mentioned Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing as examples of iconic players, who played too long.

“I hope he retires while he can still play,” Barkley said on ESPN Cleveland, via ClutchPoints. “I saw Michael Jordan [play] with the [Washington] Wizards and it was not pretty. I saw Patrick Ewing with the Orlando Magic. I would love to see [LeBron James] retire sooner rather than later…because it ends badly when you keep on playing.”
