Former Laker Nick Young thinks that keeping Dennis Schroder instead of replacing him with Gabe Vincent would have been a game-changer in the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.

“If laker keep Dennis Schroder instead of Gabe Vincent we winning that series .. pls dnt make these same off season decisions,” Young tweeted.

Schroder became an unrestricted free agent last summer and was allowed to walk away by the Lakers. After impressing at the 2023 FIBA World Cup where he won gold medal with Germany, he signed with the Toronto Raptors, but was sent to the Brooklyn Nets at the trade deadline.

With Schroder on the roster, the Lakers were swept by the Nuggets in last year’s Western Conference Finals. The German point guard averaged 7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in the series.

Vincent played marginal role for the Lakers in the Nuggets series this year, averaging 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game.
