LeBron James offered insight into the Los Angeles Lakers’ 127-125 overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets Saturday, highlighting team execution and mindset. “We just want to continue to keep building good habits, continue playing again the right way,” James said.

Reflecting on Austin Reaves’ critical free throw sequence, James described the difficulty of the play: “It doesn’t happen much… you just don’t practice missing free throws. So, you know, it was a great miss. Obviously, he was able to recover and put it home.” He praised the timing and precision of Reaves’ effort, calling it “perfect execution on his part.”

James also discussed his approach to high-pressure moments. “Just living in the moment, understanding the impact of the game, the implications of the game and our opponent… every possession matters,” he said.

The Lakers star addressed the significance of a collective team effort in tight games. “I felt like we executed… a good win for us, obviously, but after tonight we head for one, two, three, four, five, six-game road and we got to be prepared for the next start in Houston,” James said.

James highlighted the caliber of Denver’s roster as a motivator. “Denver’s a championship ball club… they have that championship DNA. So that’s what we’re trying to go for,” he said, noting that matching the intensity of a talented opponent is key to building momentum in March.

He also explained how these moments affect team chemistry. “When everyone looks around the locker room, looks each other in the eye and knows that everyone was on the court making plays to help win the game… it helps moving forward,” James said.

Saturday’s win was propelled by Luka Dončić’s triple-double of 30 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds, along with Reaves’ 32 points, which included his critical free throw play. Deandre Ayton added nine points, while Marcus Smart hit a timely three-pointer. Denver’s Nikola Jokic posted 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists, and Aaron Gordon led the team with 27 points.

With the victory, Los Angeles improved to 42-25, extending a five-game winning streak and reinforcing their position in the Western Conference playoff race. The Lakers will travel to Houston on Monday, while the Nuggets host the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday.
