When the Phoenix Suns acquired Bradley Beal in the offseason to form the Big 3 alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, expectations were high for all three superstars to lead the team.
However, Beal has primarily assumed a distributing role rather than being a prolific scorer. Durant expressed the team’s desire for Beal to adopt a more aggressive mindset.
“There’s gonna be times where we all gonna have our chances to initiate and get guys going, and Brad’s done a good job of making the extra pass, getting into the lane, finding guys. We actually want him to be more aggressive,” Durant stated after Beal’s performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he finished with 9 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field, as reported by Gerald Bourguet.
In Wednesday night’s game against the Cavaliers, Devin Booker led the charge with 40 points, while Kevin Durant contributed 32 points to secure a 122-101 victory for the Suns.
Despite being part of the star-studded lineup, Beal has been more focused on facilitating plays rather than being the primary scoring option. This season, he’s averaging 17.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game in 33.1 minutes of play.
