Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. has offered his perspective on the NBA’s investigation into his brother Jontay’s alleged betting irregularities, shedding light on the impact of sports betting within basketball circles.

Porter Jr. addressed the broader implications of sports betting on NBA players, highlighting the pressure and scrutiny faced by athletes amidst the growing influence of gambling interests.

“People in the crowd are saying what they need you to score, or what they don’t want you to score. Every night you’re disappointing someone…it’s part of the game now,” Porter said, per Harrison Wind. “We as players we have to accept that.”

While expressing confidence in his brother’s character and love for the game, Porter Jr. emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and the importance of maintaining integrity within the sport.

“I know Jontay loves the game of basketball…I know what type of dude he is…I highly doubt he’ll do anything to jeopardize that,” he said.

The rise of sports betting has introduced a new dynamic to NBA games, with fans increasingly vocal about their preferences and predictions during live matchups.
