Lendeborg drops career-high to lift Warriors beat Clippers 124-112

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 124-112 without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green on Sunday night.

Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg led the Warriors with a career-high 37 points and six assists for their fourth straight win.

The 6-foot-10 rookie notched his fourth game with 20 or more points, scoring five straight midway through the third quarter to give Golden State their biggest lead at that point, 83-68.

With two 30-point performances among his initial seven games, Lendeborg joined Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry as the only other Warriors to do so.

Brandon Williams added 17 points off the bench as the reserves contributed 40 points in all. Brandin Podziemski also had 17 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while De’Anthony Melton chipped in 21 points.

On the other hand, Clippers’ Rui Hachimura had 24 points, and Kobe Sanders came off the bench to score 16.

Los Angeles has lost their fifth straight.

Meanwhile, Curry and Green had the night off for the front end of a back-to-back, with the Clippers also playing in the first of consecutive games.

The arena crew has been busy, changing the court after the Warriors played Friday night and again after Saturday’s WNBA finale.

Both teams will play home games on Monday: the Clippers host the Raptors, while the Warriors host the Suns.
