The Memphis Grizzlies have been granted an additional hardship roster spot by the NBA, with the franchise opting to sign Brazilian forward Maozinha Pereira to a 10-day contract, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Pereira, 23, has been showcasing his skills with the Mexico City Capitanes in the NBA G League this season, averaging 10.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Hailing from Brazil, Pereira embarked on his professional basketball journey in 2019 before venturing overseas to North Macedonia for a brief stint.

After returning to Brazil, Pereira declared for the 2022 NBA Draft but ultimately went undrafted, continuing his development in his home country’s basketball scene.

Joining the Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico for the 2023-24 NBA G League season proved to be a pivotal move for Pereira, allowing him to further hone his skills and catch the attention of NBA scouts.
