Former NBA standout Joe Smith recently shared insights into his experiences playing against basketball legends such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Allen Iverson, and Kevin Garnett.
In a candid conversation with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Smith reminisced about the privilege of competing against some of the greatest players in NBA history.
Reflecting on his encounters with these iconic figures, Smith expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the court with them and learn from their remarkable talents.
When asked about facing Jordan, James, Iverson, and Garnett throughout his career, Smith acknowledged the profound impact these experiences had on his development as a player.
“I’ma tell you something that really makes me feel old,” Smith laughed. “I was watching a clip of you when you were a kid and I was in the league at that time and just to see what you’re doing right now and seeing how you came up and grown the way you’ve grown, it makes me feel old! [laughs].”
Recalling his interactions with these luminaries, Smith emphasized the invaluable lessons he gleaned from observing their work ethic, basketball IQ, and dedication to the game.
“Playing alongside those guys and being a part of their careers and them being a part of my career was definitely a blessing,” Smith remarked.
“It was like you said I played with Kobe, I played with Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James… a lot of those guys I learned a lot from as far as preparation for the game; as far as the knowledge of the game, what they bring to the table, it was a GREAT journey for me,” he added.
