Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce, once a vocal challenger of LeBron James’ GOAT status, now acknowledges the Lakers star’s place in the conversation.

During an appearance on The Draymond Green Show, Pierce reflected on his previous remarks and admitted LeBron’s greatness.

“I’ve never said LeBron wasn’t top five,” Pierce clarified, via HoopsHype, highlighting his shift in perspective following James’ monumental achievements.

Pierce’s initial comments stemmed from the 2020 NBA bubble playoffs, where he questioned James’ legacy if the Lakers failed to advance.

However, with James surpassing the 40,000-point milestone and rewriting record books, Pierce’s viewpoint has evolved significantly.

“Now, little did I know he was going to go for 40,000, little did I know he’s going to break all these other records,” Pierce conceded.

“LeBron is in that GOAT argument to where you could just say he might be the GOAT, you know, his longevity, the records he’s had,” Pierce concluded.
