Houston Rockets’ forward Dillon Brooks earned high praise from head coach Ime Udoka for his defensive performance against San Antonio Spurs’ rookie standout Victor Wembanyama.

Udoka commended Brooks for his defensive effort, emphasizing his ability to disrupt Wembanyama’s game by denying him space and challenging his shots.

“Yeah, that was the main thing, doing his (Dillon Brooks) work early,” Udoka said, per Paul Garcia. “No matter where he (Victor Wembanyama), top of the key [or] on the elbow, he had a body on him the whole time.”

In addition to Brooks’ individual contributions, Udoka praised the team’s defensive cohesion. “[Brooks] denied a bunch of catches, pushed him off his spots, and then even on the posts he was fighting him [and] pushing him off the blocks in there,” the coach said.
