As Kevin Durant gears up to face his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, in his new role with the Phoenix Suns, anticipation is high for a tribute video during the game. However, the two-time NBA champion has expressed that he believes the tribute is undeserved.
Durant, known for his candid remarks, shared his perspective on the tribute, stating, “Seriously, or is it because of my name? I’m just another player, man. I don’t deserve none of this extra attention, everybody looking at me when the game starts,” as reported by Duane Rankin of Arizona Republic.
Despite Durant’s contributions during his tenure with the Nets, he feels the lack of significant accomplishments by the team during that period makes a tribute unwarranted.
“The game is about all the players on the court. It ain’t about me. I was there for three years, four years, and we didn’t accomplish anything worth being celebrated for. That’s just how I feel,” Durant remarked.
