Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn talked about performance-based lineups after Monday’s 96-95 home loss vs. the Miami Heat (3-game losing streak/16-23 record).

(via YES Network):

Reporter: “On Spencer [Dinwiddie], he’s obviously been struggling for an extended period now. But over these last six games, the shot attempts are way down and doesn’t feel like he’s as involved in the offense. Are you seeing anything from him that’s different? Are you getting from him what you want to within the scheme and what you guys are trying to do?”

Vaughn: “Well, I think overall I’ve always talked about this being performance-based. I thought tonight Dennis [Smith Jr.] had a good attack for us defensively. We’re just in a position right now where you have to perform, and that’s across the board. So that’s the challenge to the entire group is from the beginning of the game to the end to be locked in and give everything you have on both ends of the floor. We have a pretty open offense where the ball handler can attack and be aggressive on a nightly basis, which is unselfish and is for the benefit of the group. So there’s no blockade from allowing that to happen by individuals on the team, we just ask you to make the right play. But it’ll always be performance-based, and even more so now.”
