EuroLeague basketball continues to captivate fans worldwide, marking its 24th season with a surge in attendances. The league, renowned for its elite-level play and passionate fan bases, has set new records this season, reaffirming its status as a basketball powerhouse.
The 2023-2024 EuroLeague season has witnessed a remarkable 17.4% increase in attendances during the first 17 rounds. The average crowd at each EuroLeague game has reached an all-time high of 10,296 fans, showcasing the growing popularity of the competition. This substantial rise represents an impressive 1,525 additional spectators per game compared to the previous season.
In numerical terms, a staggering 1,462,034 fans attended regular-season games between Rounds 1 and 17, surpassing last season’s figures by 128,876. Notably, these statistics include the impact of Maccabi Tel Aviv, which played most of its home games behind closed doors yet maintained a significant average attendance of 10,460 fans at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
Six EuroLeague teams are currently boasting attendance rates exceeding 90% capacity in their arenas. These include Partizan (99%), Zalgiris (97%), Crvena Zvezda (95%), FC Bayern Munich (95%), Olympiacos (93%), and ASVEL (92%), creating electric atmospheres at their respective venues.
Seven clubs have achieved the remarkable feat of averaging over 10,000 fans per game. Partizan leads the pack with an impressive 19,801 average attendance, followed by Crvena Zvezda (18,888), Zalgiris (14,935), Panathinaikos (14,914), Anadolu Efes (12,079), Olympiacos (11,323), and Fenerbahce (10,146).
Noteworthy growth has been observed in specific clubs during the current season. Crvena Zvezda, with an average of 11,678 more fans per game, reaps the rewards of playing at the iconic Stark Arena. Panathinaikos, under the leadership of Ergin Ataman, has seen an average increase of 6,395 fans at OAKA. Other notable growth includes Partizan (3,204 more fans on average), ASVEL (2,345 more fans on average), Virtus Bologna (2,064 more fans on average), and Olympiacos (1,593 more fans on average).
