Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins thought rookie GG Jackson did a solid job during this past weekend’s 106-94 home loss vs. the New York Knicks (career-high 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 9 made field goals, and 27 minutes played).

“He took advantage of the opportunity. Love that he had six rebounds. There’s going to be some things to clean up defensively on-ball, off-ball, his alertness and all that. I thought he tried to play the game the right way, obviously scored 20 points, but he moved the ball even though it was maybe not directly to an assist, tried to get into the teeth of the defense, kick-outs on top of the scoring was impressive. He played with a lot of confidence on both sides of the floor, so loved what he did tonight. He’s been working hard for this opportunity, took full advantage of the opportunity, and obviously there’ll be hopefully more to come when you can continue to play that way, keep getting better defensively, be an impact player on the ball, clean up rotations a little bit more, rebounding with his size and athleticism is something that I think he can be really good at. And offensively, just play within the flow of the offense, the drive and kicks, space the floor, just take what the defense gives you. I thought it was a good step in the right direction getting his first true NBA minutes.”
