Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson appreciates playing for a head coach he can relate to in Chauncey Billups.

Reporter: “I asked Chauncey the other day about how when he came up… he was the third pick too, he struggled, how he’s used those experiences to kind of help you. Have you guys talked a lot about that?”

Henderson: “Yeah, definitely. Just about the early struggles I had in the season, nobody really cares, it doesn’t matter. You go back and you don’t even think about Chauncey’s early struggles or whatever the case may be. So I think that was his biggest message to me, and I just continue to stay at it, I just continue to go back to the gym and continue to get some fine-tuning in and just keep up with it.”

Reporter: “How much does it help having a head coach who went through that?”

Henderson: “Man, it’s a blessing honestly, because I don’t think too many people understand other than him and players that’ve been in that same position. But like I said, it just helps me with my confidence and he just makes it easier.”
