The NBA Board of Governors has given the green light to the sale of the controlling interest in the Dallas Mavericks, marking the transition from Mark Cuban to the families of Dr. Miriam Adelson and Sivan and Patrick Dumont.

Patrick Dumont, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp., is set to assume the role of the Mavericks’ Governor. The finalization of this significant transaction is anticipated later this week.

Cuban, who originally acquired a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks for $285 million from H. Ross Perot Jr. in 2000, has been a prominent figure in the team’s ownership for over two decades.
