In a pre-game ceremony filled with fanfare, the Los Angeles Lakers proudly commemorated their victory in the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament by unfurling the championship banner in the arena before facing off against the New York Knicks.

However, outspoken sports analyst Skip Bayless didn’t hold back from taking a shot at the Lakers for celebrating their In-Season Tournament success.

Bayless, known for his candid remarks, drew a comparison with the legendary Michael Jordan, suggesting that the basketball icon would never have allowed the raising of a banner for a December triumph.

“I thought the Lakers were about June, not December,” Bayless remarked on UNDISPUTED. In a tweet, he added, “Michael Jordan would have said ‘I hate it, but I’m going to go win it.’ But he would not raise a banner over this.”

Bayless’s comments echo sentiments shared by others in the basketball community. Former NBA coach George Karl previously tweeted that if the Lakers combined the Bubble championship banner with the In-Season Tournament banner, they would then have one proper banner.
