Giannis Antetokounmpo has explained the thought process behind his decision to leave the Milwaukee Bucks in pursuit of another NBA championship.

After spending his entire NBA career with Milwaukee and leading the franchise to the 2021 title, Antetokounmpo said watching other teams compete deep into the playoffs made him consider whether a change was necessary to continue chasing championships.

“I see guys playing in PO. I think: Maybe if I switch teams, go somewhere else, I can chase another championship. I’m scared if I don’t I’ll say: Why you didn’t take the risk?”

Antetokounmpo has played 13 seasons for the Bucks. He has averaged 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 895 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games.

He has won 1 Most Improved Player award, 1 Defensive Player of the Year award, 2 MVP awards, 1 Finals MVP award and 1 NBA championship.
