New Orleans Pelicans head coach Willie Green, who was a teammate of Allen Iverson during his playing days, sees similarities between his player Brandon Ingram and the Sixers icon.
“Oh for sure. There ARE some similarities with AI and BI,” Green said, via Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson. “Number one, they have a knack for scoring in all different kinds of ways — they can shoot the ball, they can attack the basket, they can score in the midrange, they can get to the free throw line and with BI, it’s funny you say that because Allen was one of his favorite players growing up.
“So, you can see some similarities there; obviously AI is a Hall of Famer, but Brandon is an INCREDIBLE scorer; he can give you buckets like you said in a ton of different ways. It was really fun to watch tonight, just beautiful basketball by our team.”
This season Ingram, 26, is averaging 23.6 points, 5 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 33.8 minutes per game.
